How to compare Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 yourself
- 1
Pick one real job
Choose the clip you actually need (a product ad, a UGC hook, a cinematic shot) rather than a generic test prompt. The right model depends on the job.
- 2
Match the settings
Use the same length, aspect ratio and resolution on both. Seedance 2.5 offers 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 and 30 seconds; Kling 4.0 runs 3 to 30 seconds in 1-second steps.
- 3
Use the same references
Give both models the same product photo or character image. Reference fidelity is where video models differ most, and it is what most paid work depends on.
- 4
Judge the finished clip
Watch the whole clip with sound: prompt accuracy, stable faces and products, motion, audio and how the end of a long take holds up, not just the first frame.

Which should you choose, Kling 4.0 or Seedance 2.5?
Choose by the job, not the version number. Both models now make single clips of up to 30 seconds, so length alone no longer separates them. What separates them is how you control the shot. Kling 4.0 gives you a timeline: up to 10 keyframes, automatic multi-shot and long prompts. Seedance 2.5 gives you references: up to 9 images, 3 clips and 3 audio files in one generation, plus saved characters you call by @handle.
A short guide, based only on what each side documents:
- Product ads built on your real product photo: Seedance 2.5, because the photo goes straight in as a reference and you can pin the product, the setting and a camera move from a clip at the same time.
- UGC-style hooks with a recurring creator: Seedance 2.5 with a saved character, so the same face appears in every clip.
- A scene that must pass through exact frames you designed (storyboard panels, a start pose and an end pose): Kling 4.0, with up to 10 keyframes.
- Several shots with cuts inside one generation: Kling 4.0, which turns multi-shot on by default.
- Spoken dialogue in Hindi, German, Portuguese or French, or a named English accent: Kling 4.0, which documents those languages.
- 1080p or 4K delivered today: Seedance 2.5 renders 720p, 1080p and 4K now; Kling's own pages disagree on whether its 1080p and 4K are live yet.
- An API you can call today: Seedance 2.5 on KreatorFlow. Kling shows Kling 4.0 API prices as a preview, with access not yet available (checked 26 October 2026).
- The lowest per-second price once both APIs are live: on today's published figures, Kling 4.0's preview price ($0.140 at 720p) is below Seedance 2.5's list rate ($0.207); Seedance 2.0 ($0.110) is the lower-cost Seedance option for clips up to 15 seconds.
When was Kling 4.0 released?
Kling 4.0 officially launched on 15 October 2026, according to Kuaishou's press release, and Kling AI announced the global rollout on 16 October 2026. A Kling 4.0 Preview was in beta testing in September 2026, and Kling's user guide for the model is dated 14 October 2026.
At launch, Kling AI says the full model is available on its website. Access through an API for enterprises and developers is described as coming soon, and Adobe says Kling 4.0 and Kling 4.0 Flash are coming to Firefly. Kling 4.0 Flash is the faster, lower-cost mode: Kling's guide recommends it for quick iteration and short-form video, with clips of up to 20 seconds at up to 720p and no start and end frames or multiple keyframes.
What is new in Kling 4.0?
Kling 4.0 is Kuaishou's fourth-generation video model, and its headline changes are length and control. One generation now runs from 3 to 30 seconds, adjustable in 1-second steps, where Kling 3.0 stopped at 15. Kuaishou also says large motion and complex camera moves (push-ins, pull-outs, pans, tracking and orbit shots) are steadier.
Control comes through two entry points that cannot be combined in one task. Omni Reference takes up to 15 assets: up to 10 images, 5 reference videos (30 seconds combined), 7 elements and 3 voice profiles. Keyframes takes up to 10 images placed on the timeline. Prompts can be up to 8,000 tokens long, multi-shot is on by default, and Kling's guide lists video editing on up to 5 clips.
For sound, Kling describes high-quality two-channel stereo, dialogue you write in quotation marks and more accurate lip sync, in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Hindi, with several Chinese dialects and American, British and Indian English.
Some features are announced but not live in every account yet. Extension to 2 minutes is marked coming soon. 10-bit HDR, native 1080p and 4K, and 21:9 are listed in the user guide's spec table but called coming soon on the product page or in the press releases. We show both readings in the table rather than guess.
What does Seedance 2.5 do on KreatorFlow?
Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance's newest video model in the KreatorFlow studio. It makes one continuous shot of 4 to 30 seconds (4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 and 30 seconds) at 720p, 1080p and 4K, in 6 aspect ratios (16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 9:16 and 21:9), with generated audio at no extra credit cost.
Its strength is reference-led generation. In one render it accepts up to 9 images, 3 video clips and 3 audio files, so you can fix the face, the product, the camera move and the rhythm at the same time. Saved characters are called by @handle and keep the same face from clip to clip. When a generation uses a reference clip, the output follows that clip's aspect ratio.
Seedance 2.5 also powers Kitsune, KreatorFlow's motion transfer and object swap studio, and it is available through the KreatorFlow developer API and MCP servers today. KreatorFlow is an official partner of BytePlus, a ByteDance company.
How much does Kling 4.0 cost compared with Seedance 2.5?
Kling's developer pricing page, checked 26 October 2026, now lists Kling 4.0 at 1 unit per second at 720p and 1.5 units at 1080p without a video input, at $0.14 a unit: $0.140 and $0.210 per second. The same page says these are preview prices, that the Kling 4.0 API is not yet available and that launch pricing will be announced separately. Kling 4.0 Flash is "TBA". Kling 3.0 with native audio is $0.126 and $0.168 per second.
Seedance 2.5 on the KreatorFlow API costs $0.207 per second at 720p and $0.444 at 1080p at the list rate, audio included, and you can call it today. A full 30-second clip is $6.25 at 720p. So on published figures Kling 4.0's preview price is lower per second; Seedance 2.0 at $0.110 per second at 720p is the lower-cost Seedance choice for clips up to 15 seconds.
In the studio, Seedance 2.5 is 24 credits for a 5-second clip at 720p and 50 at 1080p, and 140 credits for a full 30-second clip at 720p (300 at 1080p). With a reference clip, the reference seconds are billed too: a 5-second clip with one 5-second reference costs 27 credits at 720p. Seedance 2.0 is 15 credits for 5 seconds at 720p and Seedance 2.0 Fast 12 for drafts.
Among API providers that list Seedance 2.5, the KreatorFlow list rate is the lowest listed price at 720p and 1080p in the Seedance API Price Index (30 October 2026).
Which is better for product ads?
For ads built around a real product, Seedance 2.5 is the more direct fit. The product photo goes in as a reference, a second image can set the scene, and a short clip can set the camera move, all in one render. That is the setup most ad work needs: the product has to look like the product.
Kling 4.0 is a good fit when the ad is a sequence you have already storyboarded. With up to 10 keyframes you can lock the hero frames (the pack shot, the reveal, the end card pose) and let the model fill in the motion between them, and multi-shot lets one generation contain several cuts. Kling 3.0's guide stressed accurate on-screen text for e-commerce; Kling 4.0's pages do not repeat a specific text claim, so test it if your ad needs lettering in the frame.
Which is better for UGC and talking-head clips?
For UGC hooks where the same creator appears across many clips, Seedance 2.5 with a saved character keeps the face consistent by @handle, and short vertical clips are cheap to iterate on (cheaper still on Seedance 2.0 and 2.0 Fast).
If the clip depends on spoken lines, Kling 4.0 documents more of the audio side: dialogue in quotation marks, more accurate lip sync, voice profiles as references and a long list of languages and accents. If your script is in Hindi, German, French or Portuguese, that is a strong reason to try Kling 4.0.
Which is better for cinematic shots and long 30-second takes?
Both can now hold one take for 30 seconds. Seedance 2.5 is built for the continuous shot: one subject, one light, one camera path from start to finish, at 720p, 1080p and 4K, including 21:9 for a widescreen look. It suits walk-throughs, slow reveals and product orbits that used to be cut together from several clips.
Kling 4.0 suits longer pieces with structure: multi-shot cuts inside the generation, keyframes to hit exact beats and, once it is live, extension to 2 minutes. If its 10-bit HDR and native 4K arrive as announced, that will matter for high-contrast scenes. Until then, check which output your account actually offers.
Which keeps characters more consistent?
Both treat character consistency as a core feature, in different ways. On KreatorFlow you save a character once and call it by @handle in any Seedance prompt, so the same face carries across clips and models. Kling 4.0 uses elements: up to 7 per task (including up to 3 video elements built from 3 to 8 seconds of footage), plus up to 3 voice profiles so a character can keep its voice.
Neither side publishes a consistency score, and we have not run a side-by-side test, so the honest advice is to try your own character on both.
How do you prompt Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5?
Prompt Kling 4.0 by entry point. Kling's own guide says to start with one sentence that describes the element, scene, action and emotion, to add camera work, timing and audio only when they matter, and to use concrete visual detail (lighting, materials, composition) instead of words like "cinematic". Put dialogue in quotation marks, check that every @ reference points to the right asset, and use Keyframes to lock visuals or Omni Reference to combine references.
Prompt Seedance 2.5 like a short sequence. Write the subject and the place, then the action in three beats (start, middle, end), then the camera path, the light and the style, then the sound. Say what to take from each reference ("the face from image 1", "the camera move from the clip") and keep to one subject and one continuous camera path for long takes.
Seedance 2.5 example: a 20-second product take
Black headphones on a concrete table. The camera starts wide, slowly orbits them, moves in close on the cushion texture, a hand picks them up and puts them on, and the shot ends on a smiling close-up. Soft studio light, grey background, quiet room tone, no on-screen text.
How to try Seedance 2.5 today
Two ways in, both priced before you generate:
- In the studio: open the video studio with Seedance 2.5 selected, add your product or character as a reference, pick 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 and 30 seconds and generate. 5 seconds at 720p is 24 credits.
- On the API: create a key in the developer console, top up, and send the same prompt to the Seedance 2.5 model. $0.207 per second at 720p and $0.444 at 1080p, failed jobs refunded.
- To compare with Kling 4.0, run the same prompt and reference on Kling's own site, at the same length and aspect ratio.
How is this different from our Seedance 2.0 vs Kling 3.0 guide?
Our older guide compares the previous generation: Seedance 2.0 against Kling 3.0, both capped at 15 seconds per clip. This guide compares the newest pair, both reaching 30 seconds. Kling 4.0 adds up to 10 keyframes, a larger Omni Reference (up to 15 assets), 8,000-token prompts, more dialogue languages and announced HDR and extension. Seedance 2.5 doubles Seedance 2.0's longest shot while keeping the same resolutions, aspect ratios and reference limits.
If your clips are 15 seconds or shorter, the older comparison is still useful, and Seedance 2.0 is the cheaper Seedance choice.
What don't we know about Kling 4.0 yet?
As of 17 October 2026, these points are not settled on Kling's own pages, so we leave them open rather than guess:
- Kling 4.0 launch prices: Kling shows preview API prices and says launch pricing will be announced separately; Flash is listed as TBA.
- When native 1080p, 4K, 10-bit HDR and 21:9 are live for everyone: Kling's pages list them and also call them coming soon.
- When extension to 2 minutes ships, and when the Kling 4.0 developer API opens.
- Output frame rate: not stated.
- How Kling 4.0's sound effects and music compare with its dialogue: its guide covers stereo audio and prompting for ambient sound, music and effects, without more detail.
- Independent quality results: we did not run Kling 4.0, and this guide makes no claim about which model looks better.
Questions other comparisons skip
Can I use Kling 4.0's preview price in production?
Not yet. Kling's pricing page says the Kling 4.0 prices are "for preview purposes only" and that the API is not yet available (checked 26 October 2026). Budget with them as an estimate, not a rate card.
Source: Kling API pricing
Does a reference video change the price?
On both, yes. Kling's page bills Kling 4.0 with a video input on input plus output seconds. On KreatorFlow, a 5-second Seedance 2.5 clip with one 5-second reference clip costs 27 credits at 720p instead of 24.
Is audio priced separately?
Not on Seedance 2.5: generated audio does not change the price. Kling lists Kling 3.0 with and without native audio at different rates; its Kling 4.0 preview row does not split audio out.
